Jets vs. Patriots Final Score: New York Wins Overtime Thriller 26-20

Jim O'Connor-USA TODAY Sports

The Jets defeated the New England Patriots today in an overtime thriller at the Meadowlands 26-20. The Jets are 10-5 and have won five games in a row. This was another gut check victory for the Jets. They blew a 14 point second half lead. Miscue after miscue helped the Pats along in their comeback effort.

In the end, the biggest miscue might have been on New England's end. After winning the overtime coin toss, Matthew Slater said the Patriots wanted to kick off, giving the Jets both the ball and the wind in overtime. It took five plays for the Jets to go out an win the game. Ryan Fitzpatrick hit Eric Decker for a six yard score to register the walkoff touchdown, Fitzpatrick's third touchdown pass of the day. The game ended before New England had a chance with the ball.

The Jets also got a late Christmas present as Baltimore defeated Pittsburgh. The Jets control their own destiny and can clinch a spot with a win over Rex Ryan and Buffalo next Sunday.
