SB Nation Mocks Leonard Floyd To The Jets

It seems like the popular early selection

Kim Klement-USA TODAY Sports

The Jets can be eliminated from post-season play if they lose to New England and Denver/Kansas and Pittsburgh all win. If that happens, we'll jump head first into draft talk, but right now we're happy to still be relevant. Which is why I haven't gone over Leonard Floyd's game in any amount of detail.

However the Georgia linebacker is the popular early choice for the Jets. Last week Todd McShay mocked Floyd to the Jets, and this week SB Nation's Dan Kadar has done the same thing:

20. New York Jets: Leonard Floyd, OLB, Georgia

Oh, the fun Jets head coach Todd Bowles could have with Floyd, who can line up at every linebacker position. Floyd is a rangy athlete who should come into the NFL with the ready-made skill of getting after the passer.

It does make sense to bring a rangy athletic linebackers into the fold with the Jets, especially with very little depth at the outside position. The 6'4, 230lb linebacker recorded 4.5 sacks with 8.5 tackles for a loss as a Junior in 2015 but for the first time in his career, he failed to force a single fumble.

In this mock scenario, Ohio RB Ezekiel Elliott is still available, and personally that's my selection every single day of the week and twice on Sundays. There are a few offensive tackles that I would be keen on, especially Taylor Decker from Ohio State, but Elliott wins my vote early.

As mentioned above, we'll get into the details of the draft once we either win the Super Bowl (yay) or miss the play-offs (boo), or somewhere in-between.
