Jets Sign Julian Stanford. Bills Sign T.J Barnes

Rex Ryan came back to his old team for nose tackle T.J Barnes, so the Jets picked up former Wagner College linebacker Julian Stanford.

The Buffalo Bills are hurting a little bit on the defensive line, so they have decided to sign T.J Barnes from the Jets practice squad. Barnes has appeared sparingly for the Jets over the past two years after going undrafted out of Georgia Tech in 2013 and failing to catch on with the Jacksonville Jaguars. He obviously played under Rex Ryan last year, and we all know how much Rex loves his former players.

T.J Barnes being signed left a space on the Jets practice squad that needed to be filled, and so they turned to Julian Stanford, a linebacker who was signed as an undrafted free agent by the Jacksonville Jaguars following the 2012 draft.

After being cut by the Jaguars, Stanford landed on the Lions roster and actually appeared in 18 games over two years. Although his contributions were minimal, he did see some time on special teams and on occasions in sub packages or in place of injured players.

Stanford was then signed to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in September and released in November without making a single appearance. Stanford excelled at Wagner college and put up an impressive senior year where he recorded 53 tackles, 3 interceptions, 11.5 tackles for a loss and 5 sacks.

It's likely that Stanford will never contribute anything meaningful to the Jets, but you just never know.
