The Jets announced tonight that they had signed Josh Martin, an outside linebacker from the Indianapolis Colts practise squad. He'll replace Quinton Coples on the Jets roster. Coples was claimed off waivers by the Miami Dolphins late on Wednesday night.
Some had suggested the Jets would sign a kick returner, myself included, however they decided to replace one outside linebacker with another. Martin was with the Chiefs through 2013 and 2014 after going undrafted from Columbia.
Although his impact on defense has been minimal, he was a stand out special teamer for the Chiefs before being cut earlier this year. He was signed by the Tampa Bay Bucs before being waived, he then landed on the Colts practise squad where he stayed until the Jeta picked him up on Wednesday.
The Jets could do with some help on special teams.
