Jets Sign DB Kevin Short, Cut DE Quanterus Smith

Just a little news from the practice squad today.

Denny Medley-USA TODAY Sports

You can never accuse of ignoring the little things in Jets nation.

The Jets made a minor move with their practice squad yesterday, signing defensive back Kevin Short and cutting defensive end/outside linebackers Quanterus Smith.

The Jets practice squad now consists of:

DB Kevin Short
WR Titus Davis
NT T.J. Barnes
OL Lawrence Okoye
G Jarvis Harrison
TE Wes Saxton
NT Deon Simon
DE Mike Catapano
LB Deion Barnes
LB Taiwan Jones

Quanterus Smith was a 5th round selection of the Denver Broncos in the 2013 draft. He played his college ball at Western Kentucky. He appeared in 15 games for the Broncos at 2014, although they were limited appearances. After being signed by the Jets in October, he failed to make an impression and has now been let go.

Kevin Short had been with the Chiefs earlier this year. He went from a Junior College standout to committing to a Division 1 school, before working in a warehouse and never actually playing for the division 1 school. He went undrafted in the NFL supplemental draft and spent the off-season in Kansas.
