The Jets made a pair of practice squad additions today.
We have signed OL Lawrence Okoye and DT T.J. Barnes to the practice squad and released CB Jeremy Harris from the practice squad.

One open spot on the practice squad was created by releasing Harris. The other was created yesterday when the Jets signed Ronald Martin to the active roster.
Barnes essentially flips spots with Martin. He got caught in a numbers game. The Jets had a lot of really good defensive linemen on their team but only two healthy safeties. Martin got called up, while Barnes got set down. The Jets can continue working on developing him.
Okoye is a complete project. The Jets are going to move him to the offensive line. He had started his NFL career as a defensive lineman. Before he was signed as an undrafted free agent in 2013, he was a discus thrower and rugby player. Okoye has spent time over the last two seasons on the practice squads of the 49ers and Cardinals. To say he is a project would be an understatement, but he does have some pretty absurd measurables. He is 6'6" 304 pounds and ran a 4.84 40 yard dash at the Combine in 2013. For reference, Sheldon Richardson ran a 5.02, and Leonard Williams ran a 4.97. That said, the odds are very much against Okoye turning into a player. The Jets can at least give him a look.
