The Jets will sign Randy Bullock today to take over from Nick Folk following his quad injury according to the ever reliable Adam Schefter. The Jets also confirmed that they had placed Folk on season ending IR.
Jets are signing former Texans kicker Randy Bullock to replace Nick Folk and kick in Thursday night's game vs. Buffalo, per sources.— Adam Schefter (@AdamSchefter) November 10, 2015
Bullock was most recently with the Houston Texans, where he enjoyed a 85.7% success rate on his field goals in 2014.
Unfortunately for Randy, he got off to a rocky start in 2015, missing two extra points and a 43 yard field goal, in the end it cost him his job. However it's important to note that he had made 5 of 6 field goals this year. In 2014 he had 40 touch-backs on 86 kickoffs. in 14 kickoff attempts in 2015, 10 of them went for touch-backs.
Nick Folk has been placed on IR with his injury, so Bullock has a chance to reestablish himself in the league. He has recently worked out with the Steelers, Bucs, Saints, Jaguars and Cardinals, but all teams went int a different direction.
Bullock obviously has a Houston connection with new Jets GM Mike Maccagnan. He beat out three other kickers who worked out for the Jets yesterday (Garrett Hartley, Kyle Brindza and Billy Cundiff)
