Jets Bounce Back in NFL Power Rankings

New, comments

If you hate NFL power rankings, then look away now.

Brad Penner-USA TODAY Sports

The Jets followed up a disappointing loss in Oakland with a hard fought 28-23 victory over the Jacksonville Jaguars in New York. It wasn't clean and it wasn't pretty, but we got the job done. This was the kind of game the old Jets may have lost, but these Jets have some moxy, some character. As a result of the ugly victory (if any victory can be ugly) the Jets are rising once again in the NFL power ranking, although only slightly.

Yahoo Sports - Last Week 13, This Week 12

"Weirdest stat line of the NFL season: Chris Ivory with his 26 yards on 23 carries ... and two touchdowns. Can't imagine we'll see a stranger one the rest of this year either."

NFL.com - Last Week 11, This Week 11

"Chris Ivory is a grown man," said colleague Ike Taylor on "NFL GameDay Blitz." Then, after Ivory's second scoring plunge of the day: "Ivory is a grown man." My kind of analysis. Entertaining contest from the New Meadowlands this past Sunday, with Brandon Marshall making a remarkable catch (with a dash of offensive pass interference) to put the Jets up two scores. Unlike in Gang Green's recent West Coast debacle, the defense stepped up and made plays when New York needed them. Here's looking at you, Calvin Pace and Marcus Williams"

USA Today - Last Week 11, This Week 9

"RB Chris Ivory has gained 84 yards on his last 55 carries, or roughly 50 inches per rush. At least he scored twice Sunday"

Mlive.com - Last Week 12, This Week 10

Ryan Fitzpatrick didn't look like a quarterback who needs thumb surgery, completing 21 of his 34 passes for 272 yards, two scores and zero picks.

The Washington post - Last Week 13, This Week 9

QB Ryan Fitzpatrick missed no time after suffering a torn ligament in the thumb of his left (non-throwing) hand. He showed few ill effects in Sunday's win over the Jaguars. But now there's a short turnaround and the stakes are higher for Thursday night's meeting with the Bills.

Indy Star - Last Week 11, This Week 9

RB Chris Ivory has gained 84 yards on his last 55 carries, or roughly 50 inches per rush. At least he scored twice Sunday.

NESN - Last Week 9, This Week 9

The Jets continued to play into what has been a developing trend so far this season: They beat bad teams. Everyone else? Eh, not so much. If that continues, the Jets should be looking at a 9-7 record, maybe 10-6.

*I'll continue to update this thread throughout the day as more power rankings are released*
