Jets Week 4 Game Ball: Chris Ivory

Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports

Sometimes it is difficult to decide which player deserves the game ball on a given week. This is not one of those times.

Yesterday, Chris Ivory went for 166 yards on 29 carries. Ivory was constantly breaking tackles and grinding out extra yardage. ESPN's stats credited Ivory for 91 yards gained after contact. It wasn't just that the Dolphins were tackling poorly. He was running through and breaking good attempts at tackles.

When you look at the way the offense stalled in the one game Ivory missed, it is easy to see how important he is to the Jets. Let me give you one stat that really tells the story. He is averaging an even 5 yards per carry this season. Jets running backs not named Ivory are averaging 3.3 yards per carry. Let me give you one other piece of information. Only three Jets drives failed to net at least one first down. Ivory did not touch the ball on two of them. I'll give you a third. Ivory is the league's third leading rusher even though he missed a game.

Chris Ivory gets my game ball. Who gets yours?
