Nick Mangold Doubtful

Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports

Nick Mangold is doubtful for tomorrow's game against the Raiders with a neck injury. Head coach Todd Bowles indicated either Dakota Dozier or Wesley Johnson will start at center. Losing Mangold is tough, but it is not just about how good Mangold is. It is also about the lack of off depth the Jets have on the offensive line. Johnson was on the practice squad a few days ago, and now he conceivably could start on Sunday.

It does not sound like Bowles is inclined to let a compromised Mangold go out there. When asked what it would take for Mangold to play, Bowles replied, "He’s got to say he’s not in pain."

Calvin Pryor is also out for the Jets with an ankle injury. Bowles indicated Dion Bailey will start in his place. Bailey has to start. He is one of only two healthy safeties the Jets have. When asked about the lack of depth, Bowles did say, "All of (the cornerbacks) can back up as safety... they practice back there."
