Yesterday the NY Jets cut 2015 7th round pick defensive tackle Deon Simon. Today the Jets replaced Simon on the 53 man roster with undrafted rookie tight end Wes Saxton.
The head injury Jeff Cumberland sustained last Sunday left the Jets with just one healthy tight end on the roster. This was remedied today with the promotion of Saxton.
Wes Saxton is a 6' 3", 250 pound tight end out of South Alabama. He has very good speed and lateral quickness for a man his size, but his blocking skills are rudimentary at best.
