Yesterday a new name emerged as a New York Jets general manager candidate, Tampa Bay Buccaneers director of player personnel, Jon Robinson.
Robinson has been with the Bucs for less than a year. He is a Bill Belichick protégé having spent the previous dozen years in the New England Patriots organization.
Does this mean the search is expanding? That much is unclear. Perhaps Robinson was a candidate all along, and nobody in the media was able to get a scoop on it. It is also possible the initial candidates did not impress, and the Jets are widening their search. That is exactly what happened two years ago. We will just have to wait and see.
This is a thread for discussion on the search. Below is the famous GGN Twitter widget providing relevant updates from the beat writers during the day on GM and coaching happenings, along with various other news that might come in.
