Just a small note this morning. The Jets have made their first signing of the Mike Maccagnan/Todd Bowles era and it's former St Louis Rams tackle Sean Hooey.
Hooey spent the 2013 season on the St Louis Rams practise squad before rotating at the left tackle position while Jake Long recovered from an ACL injury this past off-season. He's a giant at 6'8 and over 300lb's and has dealt with a series of injuries which slowed his progress.
He has experience from playing both tight end and on the offensive line. He started on the right but has experience on the left as well.
So what exactly is a reserve/future contract? Basically it works like any other contract but doesn't count against the cap until the start of the new year, and during that time, no other team can sign him away. So basically this is a way for the Jets to ensure he's their player for the immediate future.
