There has been a tremendous amount of buzz around Houston Texans director of college scouting Mike Maccagnan over the past few days as a potential Jets general manager. Kristian Dyer adds to it.
Source tells me that interview with Mike Maccagnan on Friday was "a home run." Clear comfort level with Woody. #Jets #NYJ

These things can change quickly. Nothing is final until a deal is signed, but it does seem like Maccagnan is currently the favorite.
I wish I had more thoughts on this, but evaluating general manager prospects is tricky. Maccagnan wasn't making the final call in Houston so it's tough to say which Texans picks he's had his hands on. He's been with the franchise since its inception. They've made some spectacular picks and others that didn't work out so well. I guess the best thing I could say is I don't see anything that would make me disqualify him. I wouldn't have any strong objections to the New York Jets hiring Maccagnan.
