Flag On The Play: Offensive Line Has The Jitters

Throughout the season, we are documenting the penalties called on the Jets. The secondary and defense as a whole did a great job not getting flagged against the Lions, but the offensive line got the jitters when faced with a quick defensive front of Detroit.

I wasn't that surprised to see the false starts. The Detroit defensive line have a lot of athleticism and talent and early in the game the tackles were getting beaten on the outside shoulder quite a lot. Players then try to over-compensate and get a quick step outside, that causes false starts and loss of yardage.

Lewis and Ivory made their débuts on the list this week. Congratulations to the defense who didn't have a single flag thrown against them. Willie Colon still sits at the top of the tree in terms of number of penalties and Walls extended his lead at the top in the amount of yards he has cost the team.
