It probably doesn't mean a whole lot in the grand scheme of things, but I just wanted to give Sheldon Richardson a little bit of praise for taking responsibility for calling the fateful timeout in yesterday's game.
He admitted to calling it when he did not have to do it. Nobody would have ever known had he not spoken up. The Jets surely would have protected their star young lineman. It's the kind of thing a stand up guy would do.
Richardson did absolutely nothing wrong by calling the timeout. He saw one of his coaches was desperately trying to call a timeout. He didn't think the official would ever hear it so he made the call himself. That was the only thing he could have done in that situation. It's not like he could have known at the time the Jets would hit a big pass.
Here's to you and better days ahead, Sheldon Richardson.
