Calvin Pryor to Miss Preseason Opener

Rich Barnes-USA TODAY Sports

Calvin Pryor was cleared for contact on Monday, but that apparently didn't come soon enough for him to be able to play in Thursday's preseason opener against the Colts at the Meadowlands.

It's disappointing because Pryor could use the experience as he prepares for his first NFL season. The preseason experience probably isn't as important for guys like D'Brickashaw Ferguson and Muhammad Wilkerson who are established, but for a guy transitioning to the NFL like Pryor, a dress rehearsal of a game situation has its uses.

This was the only move the Jets could make, though. If they have any questions, Pryor should sit. Head injuries are no laughing matter so Pryor should only be involved in games when he is fully ready to go.
