According to Ian Rapoport, the Jets believe former Patriots linebacker Cunningham has suffered a torn Achilles, likely ending his season:
#Jets believe LB Jermaine Cunningham has torn his Achilles, likely ending his season, source says. They'd hoped he'd offer pass-rush help

Cunningham was putting together a nice camp with many believing he was on his way to being named in the 53 man roster for the first game of the year. However unfortunately he will likely be watching the 2014 NFL season from the sideline.
After a promising career at Florida which saw him win two BCS Championships, Cunningham was selected in the 2nd round by the New England Patriots. However he failed to build a role with the Patriots playing a bit-part role for the majority of his career there, mainly featuring on special teams. He was suspended for four games in 2012 for violating the NFL's enhancing substance policy.
Cunningham was cut by the Patriots as part of their final cuts prior to the 2013 season. After a pit-stop in San Francisco, he was signed by the Jets in November. Unfortunately, just as it looked as though he may be settling with another team, he suffers an injury like this.
The signing of veteran Jason Babin becomes all the more important with this news.
