Antonio Allen Suffers Concussion

Just call it the curse of the corners.

Adam Hunger-USA TODAY Sports

Even the safety turned corner will be visiting the trainer this week. Just one week after suffering several key injuries to the secondary, the Jets lost their converted safety before half time.

It's another blow to the Jets, who were forced to push journeyman LeQuan Lewis into a starting role once Allen exited the game. Rex Ryan has confirmed the concussion and says Allen is currently going through the NFL's concussion protocol.

We need to hope it's not too serious with the season just two weeks away. Allen was playing well before he excited and had an excellent pass defense on the Giants opening drive.

Lewis came in to replace Allen and although he surrendered a touchdown just before the half, I actually thought he looked quite good. Walls replaced Lankster as a starter alongside Allen and the Jets will have liked what they saw from the former Notre Dame prospect.

Just in case you're counting. Dexter McDougle is done for the season. Dee Milliner has a high ankle sprain and won't be ready for another 2-4 weeks. Dimitri Patterson can never stay healthy and has experience leg injuries over the past couple of days. Antonio Allen is now suffering from a concussion. It's easy to be concerned about the position for the Jets, lets just hope Allen is OK, Walls continues to perform and Milliner is back sooner rather than later.
