The Jets have made a minor roster move, signing former Bucs running back Michael Smith and cutting safety Brandon Hardin.
Smith was a seventh-round pick of Tampa Bay out of Utah State in 2012. The speedy 5-foot-9, 205-pound running back had three kickoff returns for the Buccaneers as a rookie, but didn't play in a game last season. He was released in May.
It's difficult to see Smith's path to the roster given that the Jets seem set at running back. Maybe he will end up competing with the likes of Jacoby Ford and Jalen Sauders in the return game.
But who knows? That's why they play the (preseason) games.
