Jets Starters to Play First Half Against Bengals

Brad Penner-USA TODAY Sports

Rex Ryan said today the first string players will see their action extended against Cincinnati.

This is building up to the third preseason game which typically serves as a dress rehearsal of sorts as the starters see time into the second half.

This is sure to give the Jets an extended look at key players such as Antonio Allen as they monitor how he holds up on the outside at cornerback. Geno Smith could presumably put a lock on the starting quarterback job with a strong first half. The first team offensive line could also use some work after a rough first outing. With a new face at right tackle and the right guard missing the offseason program, these snaps in a game setting will help the unit gain chemistry.
