Official GGN Jets/NFL Prediction Thread

Shine up your crystal balls

Kelley L Cox-USA TODAY Sports

In what is maybe a mini-tradition of mine, I like to do a thread before the start of the season looking to put on the record what we think is going to happen with the NFL this season.  It's a fun little thing to do and it's always great to look back at the thread and see how laughably wrong we all are.  Last year's thread is right here. As we can see, I was clearly off with my predictions.  Hopefully now that I am a staff writer and this gets on the front page, there will be more participation.  Without further ado, let's get started.

Who's our Week 1 QB (objectively speaking, not who you want it to be)?

I'm hoping for Michael Vick but I think it's going to be Geno, even if Geno completely stinks in the preseason.

How many starts does each QB make?

I think Vick winds up starting 5 games, Geno starts 11.

Who wins the safety competition/how many starts will Pryor make?

I think Calvin Pryor starts the season as the #3 safety, takes over the starting role by Week 7 and starts the rest of the way.

Who starts the year as the #2 cornerback?  Who ends the year as the #2 cornerback?

I believe Patterson starts the year as the #2 corner, Darrin Walls will be the #2 corner to finish the season.

Predict the stats for each dreaded running back Chris.

Chris Johnson: 186 carries, 754 yards, 4.1 YPC, 4 TD.  44 catches, 301 yards, 2 TD.

Chris Ivory: 133 carries, 625 yards, 4.7 YPC, 4 TD.  2 catches, 18 yards.

Who leads the Jets in receiving yards this season?  How many?  Who leads in receiving TDs?  How many?

I think Decker leads the team in both yards and touchdowns with 978 yards, 8 TDs.

Who leads the Jets in sacks this year?  How many?

Quinton Coples and Muhammad Wilkerson, 7.5 each.

Where do the Jets rank offensive in yardage this season?  Scoring?

Yardage: 27th

Scoring: 25th

Where do the Jets rank defensively in yardage this season?  Scoring?

Yardage: 8th

Scoring: 14th

2014 Jets Offensive Player of the Year.

Eric Decker

2014 Jets Defensive Player of the Year.

Mo Wilkerson (last year before Richardson takes it from him)

Who is the best player on the Jets roster?

Mo Wilkerson (last year before Richardson takes it from him)

Name the Jets Pro Bowlers.

Wilkerson, Richardson, Mangold

Do the Jets make the playoffs? If so, how far do they go?

No.

Does Rex Ryan make it to 2015 as head coach?

No.

Jets final record in 2014, and if you are feeling up to it, a game by game prediction.

My prediction is 7-9.

Week 1 vs. Raiders- Win

Raiders really suck and it's at home.

Week 2 @ Packers- Loss

Packers are really good and it's on the road.

Week 3 vs. Bears- Loss

Don't think our secondary will be ready in time for Marshall and Jeffery.

Week 4 vs. Lions- Win

Megatron will put on a show vs. Milliner, but I see the Lions blowing it somehow.

Week 5 @ Chargers- Loss

Rex owns the Chargers thus far, but it's also on the West Coast.  I think the Jets lose this one.

Week 6 vs. Broncos- Loss

This one may be tough to watch.

Week 7 @ Pats- Loss

Jets get through their rough stretch at 2-5, and the season outlook is already bleak.  Schedule makers did the Jets no favors here.

Week 8 vs. Bills- Win

Jets get on the winning track again with an overrated Buffalo team in town.  Battle of 2 of the top 3 DLs in football (Rams being the other).

Week 9 @ Chiefs- Win

I think this is going to be a really tough game at Arrowhead, but the Chiefs were overrated last year and their strength is directly against a bigger Jets strength.

Week 10 vs. Steelers- Loss

Jets slink into the bye losing to an improving Steelers team.

Week 12 @ Buffalo- Loss

But this time the Jets make EJ Manuel look merely like a just a good QB rather than an elite one like last season.

Week 13 vs. Miami- Win

Jets beat up a Miami team who haven't all gone on Dion Jordan's steroid diet plan.

Week 14 @ Minnesota- Win

Minnesota stinks.  I expect a good offensive showing if there is one to make this year.

Week 15 @ Tennessee- Win

Jets final win of the year.  Tennessee's defense should be tough, but Locker is still a question mark (will probably either be good or be done by now) and so is their run game.

Week 16 vs. New England- Loss

NE will probably be fighting for a 1 seed at this point.  Jets might be fighting for draft position.

Week 17 @ Miami- Loss

A battle of two teams playing out the string, the Dolphins pick up the W.
