The Jets are starting training camp with a pair of veterans coming off injury on the PUP list.
The Jets announced that they were placing linebacker Antwan Barnes and veteran guard Willie Colon on the physically unable to perform list to open training camp
The PUP list prevents these player from practicing, but they can take place in other team events such as meetings. In the preseason they can come off the list at any point.
It isn't clear whether the signing of Jason Babin means bad things about Barnes' near future. He is coming off a serious knee injury, but Babin would have use even with Barnes in the fold.
Colon is going to be really important to get back as soon as possible. With a new right tackle, the Jets need as many reps as possible to get their right guard and him comfortable with each other. Fortunately there are indications that Colon's stay on the PUP list will be short.
