The New York Jets Should Sign CB Brandon Flowers

Jim Brown-USA TODAY Sports

After being maligned by critics for not addressing the cornerback situation, John Idzik has a real opportunity to seriously upgrade the position now that Brandon Flowers has been released by the Kansas City Chiefs. Flowers is good starting cornerback in the NFL that was owed $5.25M in base salary along with a $2M reporting bonus this season. He struggled this past year in former New York Jets linebackers coach Bob Sutton's defensive scheme, but before that was much better than anyone else the team currently has on the roster.

I don't know if Flowers would work out on the team because of the similarities between Sutton and Rex Ryan's scheme. But I would like to see the team make an attempt to sign him, because if anyone can mold the scheme to Flowers' skill set, it's Rex Ryan. This is a move with potentially huge upside if Flowers can revert to form. Let's make it happen.
