Second year guard Oday Aboushi was getting good reports in training camp today.
Rex: "I'm impressed with Aboushi a little more in these camps than at any time last year...he's done a pretty decent job out there."

Takeaway from Jets OTA: Brian Winters could transition from LG to RG if Colon biceps/knee rehab lingers. Aboushi has opened eyes at LG #nyj

I don't want to put too much stock into OTA's, but is it possible the Jets' lack of interest in adding proven veteran depth on the line was really a signal of confidence in young guys like Aboushi? He really struggled last preseason. Aboushi blew the block that started the chain of events leading to the infamous Mark Sanchez injury.
At the same time, a team does not take a lineman on the third day and expect an impact in year one. The idea is usually to give that player a redshirt year to adjust to the NFL. It would not be unheard of for a second year late round pick to play quality ball at guard. Many have, including Matt Slauson four years ago for the Jets.
