Brandin Cooks: Jets Are Pushing for Me

Jaime Valdez-USA TODAY Sports

Oregon State wide receiver Brandin Cooks, a first round prospect, thinks the Jets might be a fit.

"It’s been big time," Cooks told The Post on Tuesday at an event at Sean John in Manhattan. "We’ve been talking a lot on and off. I took a visit. I think the visit went great. It’s one of those things. I feel like they’re pushing for me, but who knows?"

Cooks profiles as the kind of gamebreaker the Jets have not had in a long time, and his skillset would be a nice compliment to Eric Decker. For these reasons and others, Cooks has been linked to the team.

How accurate is this? I wish I could stop writing something like, "We don't know," over and over, but we don't. Just like the teams, players have every incentive to provide smokescreens. Millions of dollars are on the line depending on when these guys are picked. If Cooks can convince teams the Jets want him at 18, it might entice one that loves him to trade up.
