Michael Vick Says There Is No Competition for Jets Starting QB Job

Brace Hemmelgarn-USA TODAY Sport

Michael Vick made some headlines today by stating there is no open competition for the Jets starting quarterback job.

Vick can say whatever he wants. He isn't making the decision. If he outplays Geno Smith in training camp and the preseason, it will be very difficult for the Jets to not start him. Too many people have jobs on the line. That's the way it should be. The Jets should be in the business of winning games. If Vick is the better quarterback, he should start. If Geno is the better quarterback, he should start.

Now if the competition is close, this would favor Geno. the tie goes to the younger guy who has more upside. I just find it difficult to believe Geno has already been anointed the starter after a rookie season that one would have to be kind to call uneven.
