As training camp approaches, we will be discussing each of the training camp battles in more detail. With John Idzik's mantra of "competition," we will be seeing a lot of them. The New York Jets have flooded many positions with players and there should be some great battles in camp to find out who will play. In fact, it can be argued that every single position grouping has a battle to watch.
At quarterback, it will be Geno Smith vs. Mike Vick. At wide receiver, the battle for the second starting spot. Running back has Chris Ivory and Chris Johnson. Offensive line has Brian Winters, Oday Aboushi, William Campbell, Dakota Dozier, etc. Tight end has Jace Amaro and Jeff Cumberland.
On defense, the big battle is at cornerback. Who will start opposite Dee Milliner? At safety, will it be Dawan Landry and Calvin Pryor, or will Antonio Allen make a bid for the starting gig?
Personally, I'm most looking forward to the cornerback battle, although they will all be great. Between Dimitri Patterson, Darrin Walls, Dexter McDougle, Brandon Dixon, etc., it should be fun to see who emerges victorious. What about you? What do you think?
