The Jets have used the first of their four sixth round picks on cornerback Brandon Dixon from Northwest Missouri State.
We have reached the developmental player stage of the Draft, and Brandon Dixon is an intriguing developmental player. He profiles as a physical press corner. He's big, and he ran in the low 4.4's in the Combine. As with many small school prospects, his technique will need some refinement.
Jeff Janis is a small school prospect who many on this site have mentioned as a potential late round sleeper. When Janis matched up with Dixon, the cornerback shut the receiver down.
Dixon will probably have to make the team as a contributor on special teams as a rookie. If he cannot show enough value as a contributor there, the practice squad is a likely destination. We will see whether the coaching staff can mold this young talent into a quality cornerback.
