Jets Re-Sign Outside Linebacker Garrett McIntyre

A small bit of information tonight.

Dale Zanine-US PRESSWIRE

It's not the signing that a lot of you want, but it is another solid move to solidify the roster.

The Jets have re-signed OLB Garrett McIntyre. Garrett played in 23% of defensive snaps last season and was used mostly in spot-duty for Calvin Pace. He finished the season with 19 tackles, including two sacks.

McIntyre was a non tendered restricted free agent, meaning the Jets failed to extend an offer sheet for the necessary tender of $1.4 million. This allowed Garrett to test the open market, it seems as though he didn't garner much attention and he has returned to the Jets for what you would imagine would be a little less than the $1.4 million.

McIntyre was undrafted out of Fresno State in 2006 before bouncing around practice squads with a quick stop in Canada. He finally found a home with the Jets in 2011 and will now spend his 4th season as a member of Gang Green. Garrett had 3.5 sacks in 2012 and 4 forced fumbles in 2011, so although he's not a superstar, he is a handy man to have.
