Petition To Keep Vick Out Of Cortland Picking Up Pace

Residents of SUNY Cortland have taken to change.org in an effort to keep the controversial Jets quarterback out of Cortland.

Brace Hemmelgarn-USA TODAY Sport

Unfortunately we were always going to face issues like the one right here. Despite it being five years since Michael Vick was released from prison and 7 years since he pleased guilty, residents of Cortland still don't want Vick in their town.

A petition has been started on change.org to ensure that Vick is kept out of Cortland this summer. The Jets have traveled to Cortland for four of their last five summer camps. However they have not announced whether they will be returning in 2014.

The petition states:

"if we welcome Vick onto our campus, we are complicit in his crimes." He is ""a monster and a disgrace"

I obviously do not agree with what Vick did, nobody in their right mind would. However I am a firm believer in rehabilitation. I don't want to go into this too much as we have been over it numerous times. However it may be in the organizations best interests to travel elsewhere this summer or stay at home. The lost revenue for Cortland will be a bit hit on them if the Jets do decide to go elsewhere but if the petition continues to go (currently at 2,600+ signatures) then to avoid creating any distractions, it would be wise.

As always please keep the comments on track, I know this is a highly sensitive subject.
