Below you will find the official GangGreenNation Top 50 Big Board, a collaborative effort between myself and Dave Wyatt, which represents our opinion of the best fifty players in the 2014 NFL Draft. Obviously, these are not the only good players and there are many that we love that didn't quite make it onto the board.
We chose to limit it to our top fifty players for convenience, as it will become unwieldy after that. You can read more about how teams create their big boards, however you should know that teams have substantially more than 50 players on their boards, usually up to approximately 250 players. The board is then broken down into positional rankings, rating each position group. When a team is on the clock at the draft, they can easily look at who their best player available is, or if they're drafting for need, who their best player available is at a specific position.
Obviously, there is no unanimity with regards to big boards. There are some players we have ranked that others do not. There are others that are ranked higher than others may like, so it's a deeply personal thing. We have no doubt there will be many disagreements about positioning, so feel free to hash that out in the comments below.
Last year, we tried live draft day coverage where Dave and myself covered every pick and discussed each prospect in detail as they were selected. We thought our final result was better than the coverage you can normally find during the draft, so we decided to do it again this year. However, this year we will be incorporating our big board so you, the viewer, can track our "best player available" as each team makes their selection.
