2014 NFL Draft: History of the 18th Pick for Jets Fans

Patrick McDermott

What kind of talent can the Jets expect with the 18th pick? Let's take a look at pick 18 over the past decade.

2013 Eric Reid S LSU San Francisco
2012 Melvin Ingram DE/OLB South Carolina San Diego
2011 Corey Liuget DT Illinois San Diego
2010 Maurkice Pouncey C/G Florida Pittsburgh
2009 Robert Ayers DE/LB Tennessee Denver
2008 Joe Flacco QB Delaware Baltimore
2007 Leon Hall CB Michigan Cincinnati
2006 Bobby Carpenter OLB Ohio State Dallas
2005 Erasmus James DE Wisconsin Minnesota
2004 Will Smith DE Ohio State New Orleans

Pick 18 in 2003 is a familiar name, Calvin Pace. He was selected by Arizona. He was thought of as a bust up until his final year in the desert when a position change from defensive end to outside linebacker improved his productivity. He went on to have a nice career with his second team, the Jets.

The last time the Jets owned pick 18 was 2000. They selected Chad Pennington with the third of their four first round picks that year.
