The Draft is finally drawing near. SB Nation is out with its latest mock. The Jets grab a playmaker in this one who has been mocked to them in many other mocks.
18. New York Jets: Brandin Cooks, WR, Oregon State
The Jets' offense needs another outside playmaker to go along with the free-agent signing of Eric Decker. In most mock drafts, that player has been Beckham. With him gone in this scenario, Cooks is the next best option. He can go over the middle or stretch a defense vertically.
The Beckham-Cooks debate has been heating up recently here and on other Jets site. I personally prefer Cooks. I think he is just a better version of Beckham. Add Cooks and maybe a second round tight end from this year's excellent class to Eric Decker, Chris Johnson, and Chris Ivory, and suddenly you have an offense with some legitimate weapons for Geno Smith or Michael Vick.
