Rex Ryan Talks Draft

Seth Walder has some comments from Rex Ryan yesterday.

"You know my prediction, I think we’re gonna take another D-lineman," Rex Ryan joked Saturday at a charity softball game in Manhattan run by WFAN’s Boomer & Carton to benefit the PBA Widows and Children’s Fund. "That would be funny. I told (GM John) Idzik, if that happens, they’d run us both out of town."

You can seldom take something a coach says seriously this time of year, but it feels unlikely the Jets would go with a defensive lineman early this year. Early picks are the best resource a team has to add impact at a bargain price. There just would not be impact with the Jets. Anybody they took would profile as a backup for his entire rookie contract given the talent already on the defensive line. That would not be maximizing resources unless somebody on the line was traded.
