Draft Rumors: Do Idzik/Mornhinweg Like Marqise Lee at 18?

Kirby Lee-US PRESSWIRE

Jason McIntyre of The Big Lead just came out with a mock draft, and it had an interesting bullet in it:

18. New York Jets – Marqise Lee, WR, USC. To be clear, I’m not a fan of this. But the chatter goes like this: Jets WR Vidal Hazelton played at USC. He’s been raving about Lee. OC Marty Mornhinweg sees Lee as a stretch-the-field DeSean Jackson, like in his Philly days. Idzik sees Lee as a value pick – had he been in the draft last year, he might have been a Top 5 pick based on an incredible sophomore year (116 catches, 1,721 yards and 14 TDs).

Obviously, we don't know who McIntyre's source is, so it's difficult to gauge the accuracy of this rumor. As he notes though, it's a rumor, so for those of you that hate Marqise Lee (of which I can think of several off the top of my head), don't jump off a bridge, and keep the comment section free of cursing.

That said, I've spoken of Lee on several occasions as two completely different animals. In 2012, he was a monster, as McIntyre stated. In 2013, he had coaching turmoil midseason, his quarterback stunk, he was injured, and as a result, Lee was garbage. The important question is if 2013 was just a one year freak occurrence and you're getting 2012 prospect Lee, or if 2013 prospect Lee are his true colors.

Since McIntyre thinks the team believes 2012 is the real Marqise Lee, here's a highlight reel for you to check out:
