The New York Jets have announced that they have signed Dmitri Patterson, a journeyman cornerback. We covered him briefly here. Patterson is interesting because he's a bit of a ballhawk when he's on the field, but has gone from team to team and struggled to get on the field. There are reports they were very happy with him as a member of the Miami Dolphins but salary concerns led to his release.
Patterson is a decent stopgap until the team can sign or draft a better option, but he isn't a long-term solution. All in all, he seems to be an addition to the "competition" mantra that has permeated the team... sign a ton of guys, and see who emerges victorious.
