Tony Pauline has suggested the New York Jets were considering moving Brian Winters to right guard, and are considering signing either Geoff Schwartz or Zane Beadles to play the left guard position. Schwartz is a good lineman, and was one of the Kansas City Chiefs' best last year, especially towards the end of the season. He is reportedly not being re-signed after a one-year deal because of costs. He is also just 27 years old.
Beadles is also 27 years old and is a strong pass protector. He was a Pro Bowler in 2012, and it doesn't appear he will be re-signed by the Denver Broncos. Personally, I would be happy with either one.
It's also interesting to see how Winters would transition to right guard. On one hand, he might better use his run blocking skills from that spot, but on the other hand, putting him next to Austin Howard (assuming he's re-signed), could be a problem against pass rushers. Although to be fair to Howard, at least he wasn't as awful at pass protection as D'Brickashaw Ferguson last season.
What do you think? Do you like the idea of Schwartz or Beadles?
