Compensatory Picks Announced

The National Football League has announced compensatory picks. The formula used is a secret but it reportedly looks at departing free agents from the previous year, how big their contracts are, and their play from the preceding year. As a result, the New York Jets have been awarded four picks, a fourth rounder and three sixth rounders. They are compensating the team for the loss of LaRon Landry, Mike DeVito, Dustin Keller, and Shonn Greene. These picks cannot be traded. Currently, the Jets have twelve picks, including:

Round # of Picks
1st 1
2nd 1
3rd 1
4th 3
5th 1
6th 4
7th 1

This is among the most in the league and gives the team considerable flexibility in one of the deepest drafts in recent memory. What are your thoughts?
