According to Manish Mehta, the New York Jets and Austin Howard could not come to a deal in time for free agency, and Howard will thus hit the market. This does not preclude a reunion, however Howard will be fair game to other teams and will be able to see how much he's worth.
This obviously isn't great news as it would have been nice to see Howard return and shore up the right tackle position. He's come a long way since the practice squad of the Philadelphia Eagles, and it'd be nice to see him back. However, I trust that John Idzik isn't holding out over a few pennies and this is a noteworthy disagreement in price. Let's see what happens next.
