Konrad Reuland: 2013 and Beyond

Kevin Hoffman-USA TODAY Sports

Konrad Reuland signed with the Jets in 2012 after spending 2011 with the San Francisco 49ers. A childhood friend of Mark Sanchez, he was relegated mostly to a special teams role in 2013. As a tight end, he only caught 1 pass for 7 yards. A knee injury in November landed him on injured reserve.

Reuland has a limited ceiling. He is not a very athletic or effective receiver. Despite a big 260 pound frame, he also is not a very effective blocker. He is also at an age, 26, where players usually do not start improving if they have shown no improvement to date.

The Jets own Reuland's exclusive rights as a free agent, but I think they should probably spend a camp invitation better. Reuland just does not have very much upside. If he did, we probably would have seen some kind of flash by this point.
