The Eagles have been busy re-signing free agent to be wide receiver Riley Cooper. They do not yet have a deal for another free agent, Jeremy Maclin.
Eagles reached agreement with WR Riley Cooper on a five-year, $25 million deal, per a league source.

Riley Cooper's 5-year deal done but Eagles WR Jeremy Maclin's is not. Sides are talking but not close to a deal, according to sources.

So there goes one potential target for the Jets, and it sets the market kind of high for an adequate but unspectacular receiver. This could alternatively give the Eagles less motivation to lock Maclin up, which could work to the Jets' advantage.
Even if you aren't a fan of a particular player, it is good for the Jets for as many receivers as possible to hit free agency. When supply is high, prices are lower.
