The Jets will interview as many prospects as they are allowed over the next month or so, it's due diligence and it is their job to ensure they leave no stone unturned. How much weight does this carry when it comes to the final selections in May? some but it's not everything.
A team may interview a player because they have genuine interest and just want to get to know the player better. They will interview a guy who may have some red marks on his record and they want to get to the bottom of it. They may interview a player because they want to test his football knowledge. They may not interview a player at all because they already have a sound understanding of what he can offer.
So if a team interviews a player three times, it doesn't mean he is going to be selected. if they don't interview a player at all, it doesn't mean he won't be selected. So take these all with a pinch of salt, logically speaking if they are interviewing someone, they have some form of interest in him.
So saying that, it is reported that the Jets met with eight players at the combine last week and here is the list:
Jace Amaro, TE, Texas Tech
Odell Beckham, WR, LSU
Blake Bortles, QB, Central Florida
Jimmy Garappolo, QB, Eastern Illinois
Jordan Matthews, WR, Vanderbilt
Zach Mettenberger, QB, LSU
Ryan Shazier, LB, Ohio State
Sammy Watkins, WR, Clemson
