The Jets met with Central Florida quarterback Blake Bortles at the Combine.
According to ESPN New York, the Orlando Sentinel reported Monday the Jets met with Central Florida quarterback Blake Bortles at the NFL Scouting Combine. The Jets, who own the 18th pick in the draft, were one of eight teams to interview the 6-foot-4 prospect.
Some regard Bortles as a first round prospect.
My guess is this will probably get far more attention than it deserves. This is not necessarily a sign the Jets are going to take a quarterback early or even that they like Bortles. The team simply would not be doing its job unless it was exploring every possibility out there.
While I would put my money on Geno Smith starting in 2014, I do think there is probably a better chance the Jets take a quarterback early in the 2014 Draft than a lot of people seem to feel.
