The Jets announced some minor coaching news today.

Sparano Jr. was brought to the team by his father in 2012 and stayed on after Tony Sparano Sr.'s firing as offensive coordinator. His father did not do a very good job with the Jets, but that does not necessarily mean Tony Jr. is a bad coach. We are all different people from our fathers. Tony Jr. has clearly impressed the Jets enough to earn this promotion.
Smith played his entire seven year career with the Jets before being released after last season. The coaching staff always indicated he had a good head for the game so we will see whether he can rise through the ranks. His duties will likely be relatively small to start out.
