Patriots director of player personnel Nick Caserio has been speculated as a potential replacement for John Idzik as Jets general manager. You can probably scratch him off the list of potential candidates. Adam Schefter reports he has received a contract extension from New England.
New England Patriots director of player personnel Nick Caserio, who was expected to be one of the most desired candidates for general manager openings, is off the market.
Caserio signed a contract extension with the Patriots that runs through the 2020 season, according to NFL sources, a deal thought to be the single longest front-office contract in the NFL.
While Caserio could theoretically still take a general manager job, it is unlikely he would have signed such an extension at this time of year unless he was firmly committed to staying in Foxborough.
There were plenty of reasons to like Caserio as a potential general manager and plenty to not. For better or worse, he probably won't be an option for the Jets.
