Dom Cosentino reports Charley Casserly has begun contacting possible replacements for Rex Ryan and John Idzik. Word broke earlier this week of the Jets potentially hiring Casserly to assist in such searches.
Two people with knowledge of the situation confirmed to NJ Advance Media late Friday night that Casserly already has begun contacting prospective replacements for head coach Rex Ryan and general manager John Idzik, who both figure to be fired after Sunday's season finale in Miami against the Dolphins. The two people spoke on a condition of anonymity because neither was authorized to speak publicly on the matter.

Ryan has not yet been informed of his fate, a person familiar with his thinking said. But that same person also said Ryan had learned Casserly was contacting other coaching candidates, and that Ryan had already cleared out his office at One Jets Drive.
The writing seems to be on the wall here for both the general manager and head coach. It has for some time. The Jets seem to have a policy of not making changes in season, and this shows why such a policy is silly. Everybody knows Rex is getting fired. Idzik probably is too. The season has for all intents and purposes been over since October. Why not just send these guys on their way with some dignity rather than drag them through this?
