As is their tradition before the final game, the Jets have given out team awards for the 2014 season.
Curtis Martin MVP: Sheldon Richardson
Dennis Byrd Most Inspirational Player Award: Calvin Pace
Kyle Clifton Good Guy Award: Zach Sudfeld
Bill Hampton Rookie Who Acts Like a Pro Award: Dakota Dozier
Marty Lyons Community Service Award: Kyle Wilson
Ed Block Courageous Player Award: Rontez Miles
Richardson has avoided a sophomore slump. Last year's NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year, Richardson has made big leaps as a pass rusher in his second pro season. He has doubled his sack total to 7, which leads the team and ranks fourth among 3-4 defensive ends with 47 total pressures according to Pro Football Focus. (Jurrell Casey is third with 48. Cameron Heyward is second with 51. J.J. Watt is first with 110!)
There isn't a lot good to say about the Jets right now, but they at least do have a terrific young defensive line to build around.
