Nick Mangold's X-Ray Is Negative

Robert Deutsch-USA TODAY Sports

It sounds like Nick Mangold's ankle is not broken.

That certainly is good news. It might not be the worst idea in the world to shut Mangold down unless he is 100%. The finale obviously doesn't mean much to the Jets this year. It wouldn't be in anybody's interest to risk Mangold further injuring himself. Right now the goal should be to get Mangold as healthy as possible to prepare for training in the offseason.

In addition it might be a good idea to give Dalton Freeman a look. On the first viewing it looked like he did a solid job in relief of Mangold. Getting him some game reps could help him. The guard situation is unclear so perhaps Freeman can get himself some consideration for next season.
