Monday Night Football 2014, week 15. Tonight we have the Saints visiting the Bears at historic Soldier Field in Chicago, Illinois. This is the second straight Monday night matchup between teams from the NFC North and the NFC South. It's an NFC Civil War, and the North landed the first blow. Tonight we have an epic battle between two 5-8 teams. The hometown Bears are 5-8 and in last place in the North. The visiting Saints are 5-8 and in first place in the sad sack South. The Saints, led by future Hall of Fame quarterback Drew Brees and All Pro tight end Jimmy Graham, have been shockingly pedestrian this season, yet still somehow lead the pathetic NFC South and threaten to be the rare team that finishes with a losing record yet hosts a playoff game. The Bears, led by star receivers Brandon Marshall and Alshon Jeffery as well as star running back Matt Forte, are also 5-8, yet they are mired in last place in the much more competitive NFC North. The wheels appear to be coming off the bus for the Bears as the offensive coordinator seemingly threw underperforming quarterback Jay Cutler under the wheel challenged bus the other day in an interview. The Bears are playing only for pride and next year's jobs, while the Saints are playing for a division title and a first round home game in the playoffs. The game would seem to favor the Saints, but the Saints are a completely different team outside of New Orleans and you just never know in the NFL.
Enjoy the game, enjoy the dueling 5-8 juggernauts, enjoy the NFC Civil War. Discuss the game here. The normal rules apply. Do not ask for links to illegal broadcasts of games. Do not provide them either.
